In July 2022, Empire College School of Law transitioned to an accredited branch of Monterey College of Law (MCL.) The name of the Santa Rosa branch campus retained its local identity under the name "Empire College of Law," reflecting the region's long-standing identity as California's "Redwood Empire." The branch campus joins Monterey College of Law, San Luis Obispo College of Law, and Kern County College of Law as the fourth member of MCL's family of California-accredited non-profit opportunity law schools that reflect the diversity and values of the local communities that they serve.
Situated in the heart of Sonoma County's Wine Country, the campus provides an inspiring environment for studying law with its well-equipped classrooms, a law library with extensive legal resources, spaces for student collaboration and study, and proximity to the courthouses.
Monterey College of Law is accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California to offer Juris Doctorate (JD), Master of Legal Studies (MLS), and Master of Laws (LLM) degree programs. The school's degree-granting authority qualifies graduates to take the California Bar Exam and obtain admission to practice law in the state.
